Last month, I was invited to attend the press conference of the announcement for The Extraordinary Taxi Ride contest that Western Australia had launched a few months back.
The buffet dinner was good but what’s better was the contest trip itself - 11 couples from Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Malaysia and Germany joining driver Doug Slater beginning 9th April until 14th June, covering a total distance of more than 10,000 km across Western Australia.
Sounds like the type of wild adventure I would take on if given the chance, any time. It’s been a desire of mine to go on a crazy road trip across a big country, like Australia, but the thing with me, it’s only fun when you do it with a couple of friends, and hopefully someone to share the wheel with when you’re too tired to drive. As for me, I’m never good behind the wheel, so a solo road trip can only mean disaster for me.
Not to mention, it’s Western Australia! The region in Australia I have not fully explored yet.
I’ve always wanted to visit the Western Australia and dive with the Great Whale Shark at Ningaloo Reef!
Something I would kill to experience.
So I have to admit I was a little bit jealous (ok fine I was head over heels filled with envy) when 41 year old Physician Dr Ling won the contest to journey, with his brother Shaun, on the Extraordinary Taxi Ride commencing 13th to 16th April 2010.
Dr Ling and Shaun receiving their award by Western Austarlia’s Tourism Minister Elizabeth Constable.
Look at their happy faces! I do have to admit I’m a lil jealous!
I guess the three other short-listed Malaysians and their partners would be going home sour-faced that night. I would if I was one of them. >_<
If you want to follow the daily highlights of the Malaysians’ journey online then log online to bethepassenger.com. To view the journey of the other passengers, visit www.extraordinarytaxiride.com.
Try out some of the activities on their journey, visit WA Travel deals website to plan your next Australia holiday.
I guess I’ll be keeping an eye out on the website from the 6th to 11th May when the passengers visit the Ningaloo Reef to swim with Whale Sharks!
You never know, I might even book a tour there soon (checking out WA travel offers)
Aherm... please don’t mind me here as I’m going to do something shameless.
Calling out to Western Australia Tourism!
Please send me to Western Austarlia. Pretty pretty please. I really want to dive with whale sharks.
PRETTY PLEASE with puppy dog eyes!
Right. Maybe no puppy dog eyes. But don’t you see the perfect traveller here? :D
