Kim Kardashian and Kris Humpries are reportedly working on a prenuptial, notwithstanding the $2 million, 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz rock and "Will You Marry Me?" written with rose petals on Kim's bed proposal by Kris.
Sources close to the couple tell TMZ that Kim and Kris believe a prenuptial is "the smart thing to do."
Kim's late father, Robert Kardashian, who successfully defended OJ Simpson, had educated Kim on the merits of contracts and Kim believes he would have wanted her to sign a prenuptial.
Kim is thought to be worth considerably more than Kris who, according to the New York Post, has earned $16 million in his seven-year basketball career.
Forbes estimates that Kim made $12 million last year itself.
The Kardashian family is believed to have netted $65 million last year.
